Privacy Policy

1. No account, and your library stays on your device

No Daily Commons account is required. Your source choices, story text, imported email text and original messages, saved stories, reading positions, and optional profile name are held on the device. The app does not upload your library or your password to a developer-operated server. There is currently no CloudKit library synchronization. Device backups may include local app data, according to your own Apple backup settings.

2. Optional iCloud Mail

If you choose to connect iCloud Mail, the app connects directly to Apple using encrypted IMAP with an app-specific password. That password is held in this device's non-synchronizing Keychain and is accessible only while the device is unlocked.

The app scans recent inbox headers to discover newsletter senders, and downloads messages only from the senders you choose. It does not send, delete, or mark mailbox messages as read. Checks run only while the app is open. You can disconnect at any time inside the app, and you can revoke the app-specific password in your Apple Account settings.

3. Feeds, images, and publisher websites

Public feeds and story images are requested directly from publishers and their hosting providers. Those services receive normal request information such as your IP address and the URL requested. The native email reader does not load email images or tracking pixels.

If you open an original website or link, that site's images, scripts, cookies, ads, sign-in fields, and privacy rules apply. Anything you enter on a publisher website goes to that publisher, not to a Daily Commons developer server. Sign-ins and cookies in the embedded article reader are separate from Safari and separate from the iCloud Mail connection. Some links open in a system browser instead, where that browser's own data and settings apply. Daily Commons does not extract or monitor website passwords or bypass publisher access controls.

4. Optional local-news discovery

Local-news discovery is optional and asks permission for Apple's location services and geocoder. Only your chosen country and city are saved — not coordinates and not location history. You can select your area manually instead, and location permission can be disabled in system Settings at any time.

5. Sharing and support email

Sharing is always initiated by you, through the system share sheet, and the receiving service's own policy then applies. Support email contains only what you deliberately send. It is used to answer your request, retained only as long as necessary to resolve it or to meet legal obligations, and you can request deletion at support@dailycommons.com. Never send passwords or private newsletters.

6. Deleting your reading

Downloaded reading and original imported messages remain until you remove them. Delete local reading removes this device's library, your follows, saved stories, reading positions, profile name and area, disconnects iCloud Mail, and clears embedded article-reader website data. It does not clear Safari or another system browser, does not delete Apple Mail messages, and does not cancel any subscription.

Clear website data clears embedded article-reader cookies and cache, separately. Disconnecting iCloud Mail alone keeps the reading already imported. Uninstalling removes the local app container; disconnect first so the Keychain credential is removed. Apple backups and data held by publishers must be managed with those providers.

7. No advertising or analytics SDKs

There are no developer advertising or analytics SDKs in the app, no sale of reading history, and no ad targeting based on your library. Publisher websites may run their own analytics and ads. Apple may provide diagnostics according to your system privacy choices. Support messages do not automatically include your library.

8. Changes, and your requests

Material changes will be reflected in this policy. For access, correction, or deletion requests concerning information the developer holds, contact support@dailycommons.com. Requests about data held by Apple or by publishers must go to those services. The developer cannot access your local library.

9. This website

This is a static information site. We do not add advertising or analytics SDKs or collect submissions on the site. The hosting provider receives standard technical requests needed to serve these pages.
